Black-eyed Daisy

Black-eyed Daisy

Just a common oxeye daisy, but with a twist. The blue filter effect, among the black-and-white presets in Aperture, does curious things to yellow. It tends to obscure fine details with jet black when applied straight. Playing with the mid-level contrast and the Levels tool brought details back in the center. The Fibonacci number patterns of the central disk are more prominent when the eye is not distracted by the color.

The camera was the Nikon D90; the lens was the Nikkor 70-300mm AF-S ED VR. Post processing was in Aperture. The location was my garden. Been heavy on the flowers and insects lately. Maybe tomorrow I’ll seek other horizons.
