DUCK stylized poster

DUCK

Filter fun today. The original image is nothing special, so let’s see what we can do with it. This Obama “HOPE” stylized poster was created using my original image for today’s One Picture a Day (which I am not going to bother to share.) I used the “Obamanizer” filter in the Lunapic online image editor. […]

Norway Maple

Leaf Fall

The last of the autumn leaves are falling. The Norway maples (Acer platanoides) are among the last to drop. Their large, bright yellow leaves cover the forest floor here. Norway maples are not native to North America, but they do show a lovely yellow. Image taken with a Nikon D90 and the Micro-Nikkor 60mm AF.

This was taken in my back yard, pointing to the north star behind the trees. Nikon D90, Nikkor AF-S 18-55mm AF-S VR, Manfrotto tripod, third party intervalometer, StarStax software.

Star Trails

Star Stack

I have just tried stacking star field pictures for the first time, and I have to say I am sold! I have been struggling to get good star trails. Long exposures are fraught with pitfalls on digital cameras, from sensor artifacts to sensor overheating to passing cars blowing out the lights. Taking a series of […]

Stack of Dr. Seuss Easy Reader Books

Seuss Stack

I’ve done stacks of books before. This time I used a different technique to mitigate the reflection of the flash. Before I explain, note that the books were standing vertical on the shelf; I have rotated the final image 90 degrees. I did not have my diffuser or a bounce handy for the flash.  I angled […]
