Falling Christmas Star

Falling Christmas Star

This is just a simple long exposure, handheld. It happens to be a telephoto lens, the Nikkor 70-300mm AF-S EF ED, but just because that’s what I had on the camera at the time. The star is atop a Christmas tree in my living room. I let the camera, a Nikon D90, use its automatic exposure meter time it. I had the aperture set on f/8 to keep a little more depth of field margin as I waved the camera around. A little sharpness makes it look like fire sparks. Sliding some Aperture controls around isolated and enhanced the light of the star.
