Experimental Focus Stack: Shell

Focus Stack Experiment

This image is strictly experimental. I was testing StarStax for use with focus stacking. The input was quick, handheld shots; settings in StarStax were default. Oddly enough, something sort of interesting popped out. I did not get good focus stacking, but the software did make a fair attempt to combine the images into something remotely resembling the subject. It’s not going to get me any Getty images action, obviously. Camera was the Nikon D90; lens was the Micro-Nikkor 60mm AF. This macro lens “breathes” quite a bit when changing focus, this is probably always going to be a challenge for stacking Lighting was a table lamp.
