Jaw Harp

Jaw Harp

This jaw harp rests in a shadow box, actually an old printer’s drawer. The original image was underexposed. However, I shot it in Nikon RAW, which give lots of flexibility for recovery. It produced a rather pleasing effect, almost like a realistic painting to my eye, with no harming of any photoshop filters. It is lit with a Nikon SB-600 Speedlight with a diffuser. The flash has been dialed back three stops. This prevents it from giving the harsh light that plagues flash photography.

Camera was a Nikon D90. Lens was the best cheap Nikon lens, the 18-55mm VR AF-S DX. ISO 800, f/5.6, 1/60 sec, flash fired (-3.0) and 48mm focal length.
