Snowy Forest Floor is our next effort to capture snow in the way it appears to the eye. I like this one for the blue cast in the shadows, and the sparkles, which are present in the real setting. There’s a hint of warm color from the setting sun as well. The sun was just on the horizon; only a minute or two was left before it disappeared behind the hill on the other side of the valley. I also like the enigmatic footprint patterns in the snow. There are no human prints in it; that’s all wildlife. It invites you to think about it for a moment, to sort out what went by. Best if all, no gray or blown out white that one usually fights with in snow pictures. This photograph was taken with a Nikon D90 and the 18-55 VR kit lens. I used the in-camera “vivid” color setting to boost colors a little. Most post-processing I limit to auto-adjust in Aperture, with an additional tweak setting the white point.
