Tickseed sunflowers, after the rain and in evening light. The featured image is actually not from today; it is from several days ago but I had not published it yet. However, the following two images are from today, another step in the One Picture a Day challenge. The following two images capture the flowers in the low evening light. The subtle, soft light really complements the soft texture of the petals. And those raindrops in the featured image–especially the near-perfectly round one caught to the right of the center–just take my breath away. This particular variety is Bidens coronata or Crowned Beggarticks). Bidens species produce beggar’s ticks, or spanish needles, that cling to clothing and fur in the fall and winter. An annoyance at times. But the such gorgeous flowers! These photographs were taken with the Micro-Nikkor 60mm AF. I tell you what, macro guys really rave over the 105mm and 200mm Micro-Nikkors. But I really have no complaints about my stubby 60mm, especially at half to third of the cost.
