I was not sure which version of today’s One Picture a Day to feature, so I have posted them both. The only post-processing difference between the two is the application of Mono X by SEIM preset to create the black and white version. The main post-processing maneuver was to use the Levels tool to increase the tonal range on each color, red, green and blue.
The original image was taken with a Nikon D90 and my much-loved Micro-Nikkor 60mm AF. I can’t imagine photography without a good macro lens available. The camera was handheld with available light. This is a cropped image. The grain really gives it a hand-drawn quality, especially the black and white version.
