Much needed spring rains arrived today. This strawberry flower stayed open in defiance, and got a snoot full of rainwater out of the experience.
You have probably noticed the rather odd highlight in the reflection in the water. That is my flash. I use an alcohol bottle as a diffuser over a Nikon SB-600 SpeedLight. An approaching storm’s deep clouds had cut the light. I wanted the water droplets to shine more, so I used the flash. With a macro lens I am only a few inches away. The SB-600 does a pretty good job of clearing the lens, a Micro-Nikkor 60mm AF f/2.8. Unfortunately, the water caught the reflection of the flash in a distracting way. I prefer the composition, so I am keeping this one…and it will serve as a reminder to me to be very careful with flash in a reflecting situation.
